Good phonemes! One way to improve the animation would be to extend the emphasis on longer syllables. In this case, "No-" "the" "Spa-" and "In-" are stressed and the mouth would remain on them longer than the others. Also, consider matching the head movements with the speed and pace of the dialogue, to better unify each component of the animation.

Good emotion! The animation is very convincing and makes sense for the quote. The lack of body movement and the strange hand movement distract from the quality of the animation. Besides that, superb job!

Looking really good! The pose feels really natural and I love the subtle eye/eyebrow movements as well as the blinks. Good energy and character!

Turn in / Micah Schmidt Character Facial Animation

Character facial animation! Featuring dialogue from the Warcraft 3 Dryad unit.

The project was really fun! This animation actually features the use of both rigged joints and blend shapes in the shape editor to create phonemes and general movements. Blend shapes would establish the initial phonemes, and the joints would be used to create minor adjustments in each frame. Also, blinking was created through use of a sequenced texture with individual textures for eyes open, eyes half-closed, eyes fully closed, as well as a few alterations that were not used in this project for looking in separate directions or for creating certain emotions. Looking forward to the next project!

Turn in / Micah Schmidt Character Animation Roll

All my animations so far this semester in one! Includes the first walk cycle, sitting, flying idle position, backflip, flying standing up, flying moving forward, and the walk in circle animations. I had a blast animating this character, and wanted to use the wings to good effect. For future note, I would need to fix some animation restraints in the model, particulary the wings and hands to be precise, but I feel that a lot of character was expressed regardless!

Good pacing and weight on your flip! The walk is jittery and can look more real by giving each control the same amount of attention you gave them in the flip.

Very slow. If your having trouble with the speed of your animation, you can remove inbetween frames in the animation or shorten your keyframes in the graph editor. Also the character appears to rotate in midair in the middle of the flip to wear its hard to tell where she is in space. Also the staging of the walk can be more centered to show that the animation is the focus of the video.

Really good work! The character appears to freeze for a brief second just after jumping into the jump, and there is slight jittering in the walk, but good timing and weight regardless! Also YOU RENDERED THIS ANIMATION ARE YOU INSANE?!!? Good lighting and shadows although you didn't need to have them!

« on: April 08, 2017, 07:39:55 pm »
She moves well, but consider adjusting your spine controls to give her more bob in her step as the weight of her body comes downwards with each step. As right now, she looks like she has a backbrace. Your flip also appears to slightly clip into itself. I would recommend planning each important frame of the animation and posing it to look accurate, then build your in-between frames to fit those poses.

Really good work! The weight and buildup of each pose was fantastic and no frame stood out of place. The character walked with really good timing and pace that it never looked dull. Good job!

Without further delay, the model! Had a lot of fun and figured out the texturing as I went. I learned a lot about modeling and texturing and I have a lot of techniques I want to try for next time. I'm looking forward to rigging and animating!

Nice job! Her face came out absurdely well. The anatomy of the character could be sculpted some more to look more realistic. Even though the textures are simple, the silhouette of the character gives all the information of the character; however you might want to refine the textures more to keep the character convincing. Very good work!

I love the armor and outfit so much! The model appears blocky from the side angles, but its up to you if you want the model to appear more humanoid-like or to keep its current shape.
