I'm really liking what you have so far.  In my opinion, the amount of detail that you were able to put into it is impressive!  Dunno if I can say too much else though without a reference image and a wire frame image.  If you could post one of those I feel like I could say a lot more about the model and help with the base and trigger more.

The rifle looks great so far. The body of the rifle is usually the hardest part, and for the trigger most people try to extrude it from the body but I personally have an easier time creating a separate object as the trigger.

I finished my still life on Monday, and ive been working on a rifle to improve my skills in Maya. Its a rifle from the show SAO called the PGM Ultima Ratio Hectate I. Its coming along...slowly. Im having a hard time with the base of the gun and the trigger area, and could use a lot of help. This is what i have so far.
